Privacy Policy

Who we are

NurseX (“NurseX,” “we,” “us”) is a study platform for nursing students, run by an independent developer based in Washington State, USA. This policy covers nursex.app and the NurseX app.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address and password (the password is stored in scrambled, hashed form by our sign-in provider; we can never see it), plus the first name, nursing track, course, and exam date you give us.

Study data. What you create and do in NurseX: practice answers and scores, flashcards, notes, your study plan and calendar, simulation results, conversations with Talk to My Tutor, how much of the Free trial you've used, and active study time (used for your streak and weekly tracker).

Study Groups. Messages you post in a group and your first name are visible to the members of that group.

Technical data. Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, settings saved in your browser (like dark mode and text size), and standard server logs kept by our hosting providers (such as IP address, browser type, and time of request), used for security and troubleshooting.

What stays on your device

Lecture Recorder audio and the PDF books you add to My Library are saved in your browser on your device. They are not uploaded to NurseX, which also means they don't appear on your other devices.

The microphone is only used when you press record. The live transcript uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, and some browsers (for example Chrome and Edge) process that audio on their maker's servers under the browser maker's own privacy policy.

How we use it

• To run NurseX: sign you in, save and sync your work across devices, and build your personal study plan.
• To run the Free trial fairly: counting usage so the limits apply per account.
• To keep NurseX secure and fix problems.
• To improve NurseX, using overall patterns (for example, which features get used), not by selling or sharing your data.

We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. We only send you email about your account (like confirming your email or resetting your password).

Talk to My Tutor

When you message the tutor, your conversation is sent to our AI provider to generate an answer. Our provider processes it on our behalf under terms that do not allow it to use your conversations to train its models. Please don't include information about real patients, or anything that could identify a patient, in your messages.

Who helps us run NurseX

We use a small number of service providers, who only process your data to provide their service to us:

• Supabase: accounts, sign-in, and the database that stores your study data (servers in the United States).
• Vercel: hosting for the website and app.
• Cloudflare: our domain name and DNS.
• Our AI provider: generates Talk to My Tutor answers.
• An email delivery provider: sends account emails such as sign-in confirmations and password resets.
• A payment processor (when Premium launches): handles payments. We never see or store your full card number.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Your choices and rights

• See and download your data: Settings, Privacy & data, Download my data.
• Correct it: edit your name, track, course, and exam date in Settings.
• Delete it: Settings, Privacy & data, Delete my account permanently deletes your account and your study data from NurseX right away, and removes the recordings and books on that device.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. Email support@nursex.app and we'll help.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, it's deleted from our database immediately. Copies may remain in our providers' routine backups for a limited time before they are overwritten.

Security

NurseX uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, and our database is set up so each student can only ever access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else.

Age

NurseX is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you're under 18, please use NurseX with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. See also our Terms of Service.
